Itinerary

You'll meet your instructor at our beach stand on West Beach. From there he or she will get you suited with life jackets and provide you with a paddling technique and safety tutorial.

Before you know it you'll be off on the calm waters of the Santa Barbara channel and harbor. You'll quickly be on your feet and learning to Stand Up Paddle with ease. Once you have the hang of things your instructor will take you into the harbor to explore and enjoy the fun diversity of vessells found in the harbor.

After exploring the harbor your instructor will offer more opportunities to improve your skills around Sandspit and over to the buoys where there are always harbor seals ready to say hello. Before paddling back to the beach you'll wrap around the pier and if you're up for it ride underneath the pier to complete your adventurous paddle!

Please note: You must know how to swim in order to paddle with us. There is a high probability that you won't have to swim during your lesson but as a safety precaution, we ask that everyone paddling with us knows how to swim.

Went Stand up Paddleboarding with them (our first time), and we were really happy. Molly was our trainer during the lesson. She was patient, and took time to make sure we were comfortable at each stage of the lesson. Highly recommended!

Great instruction, super friendly instructors Orion & Kim who provided an enjoyable, safe and fun 1.5 hours for our group of 9 women. Paddle boarded in the channels and luckily not windy so quite smooth. May want to bring your own rash guard if you have it, we wore wetsuits but may be hot got some.

Kristin was great. My husband and I went on a 2 hour lesson/tour. It was our first time, and she shared some great tips and tricks. She also have some good background stories about Santa Barbara and the harbor.

We scheduled early morning stand up paddle boarding lessons and had a wonderful experience with Cal Coast Adventures. The station on the beach was easy to find. Our guide Ryan was personable and easy-going, which helped calm our nerves. He first went over the basics on the sand then eased us onto the water one by one. Since it wasn’t too cold out, wetsuits weren’t necessary. Once we were all out and ready to go, Ryan guided us to the calm waters of the marina, along the breakers then around and under the pier. It was a beautiful sunny morning and we enjoyed seeing the seals, boats and mountains from a new vantage point. My daughter had to leave her glasses behind so as not to lose them, so she wasn’t able to see as much, but still managed. If you have a strong eye prescription, you will want to either wear contacts or bring a pair of glasses you can spare to lose and somehow secure to your head. Ryan shared many interesting facts about the history of the area which also made for an educational experience. Although a couple of us fell off a few times as we were forewarned would likely happen, it was part of the fun and we are glad we tried it. Definitely a highlight of our trip!

Took a trip to Santa Barbara as a family getaway but wanted to get some SUP time on the water. It was not my first time on a SUP but sought a lesson to develop/improve some skills. Mitch and crew were awesome!. The time was so worth it. The instruction and knowledge of local waters was great. They really upped my SUP game, I'd do it again in a heartbeat.
